Public Breastfeeding for Attention, Mom Reacts to Accusations

Posted on November 25, 2024

Breastfeeding in public is normal, and women shouldn’t ever feel guilty about it. An 18-year-old young mother is adamantly fighting for the freedom to nurse in public without hiding it. We find it refreshing that she is candid about the difficulties she faces when feeding her two-year-old.

The young woman did, however, admit that she finds it annoying when strangers pay her unwanted attention. “Boobs are for feeding babies,” Shania stressed. It comes naturally.

“I don’t understand why people think it’s me looking for attention,” the Gen Z mother said, expanding on her position. I’m simply doing something that was considered normal sixty years ago.

In public, Shania O’Neill isn’t afraid to breastfeed her daughter. She feels at ease doing it in a variety of settings. “I could be pushing the [stroller] in a shop and I’ll feed her wherever we are,” she said, referring to the tram, bus, or restaurant.

O’Neill never imagined her future as a prominent breastfeeding advocate until she suddenly became pregnant with Isabella at the age of 16.

She admitted that when she attempted breastfeeding, it “completely changed me,” even if she hadn’t planned to do so at first. It has established such a wonderful connection.

she covered herself while nursing at first, but she quit since it was uncomfortable. “Using a blanket was challenging because I had to constantly check underneath it every two seconds,” she stated. Since it’s lot simpler today, I don’t use one at all.

O’Neill maintains her resolve to breastfeed in public despite criticism, stressing that “you wouldn’t tell a woman feeding with a bottle to cover up the bottle.”

“I would recommend for moms to just go into it with a care in the world,” the 18-year-old says, urging other mothers to adopt her strategy and ignore social criticism. Your infant comes first.
