Young sisters ki.l.le.d in Texas floods found with ‘their hands locked together’

Posted on July 7, 2025

What began as a family getaway turned into heartbreak when 13-year-old Blair and 11-year-old Brooke Harber were found dead, holding hands, after flash floods swept through Texas Hill Country. The Harber family had traveled to Casa Bonita in Hunt, Texas, when torrential rains hit overnight, flooding cabins and cutting off escape routes.

Despite a desperate rescue attempt by their parents, the sisters were swept away by the violent current. Blair and Brooke were sleeping in a separate cabin with their grandparents, who remain missing. Brooke managed to send a final message—“I love you”—before communication was lost.

Twelve hours later, rescue teams found the girls’ bodies 15 miles downstream. The heartbreaking detail that they were still holding hands has moved the nation, symbolizing their deep bond even in the face of tragedy.

The sisters were beloved students at St. Rita’s Catholic School in Dallas, known for their bright spirits and strong faith. As Texas continues to recover from historic floods, the Harber family’s loss stands as a painful reminder of nature’s power—and the enduring strength of love.
